1. Where do you live?
I live in Inverloch, after spending several years in Wonthaggi. Both towns have been my home, and I’ve seen the diverse needs and challenges that our community faces across Bass Coast.
2. How long have you lived in Bass Coast?
I’ve lived and worked in Bass Coast for nearly 15 years. This experience has given me a deep understanding of the community's evolving needs, from the pressure on local services to the economic and environmental challenges we face.

3. What is your previous community involvement (voluntary work or membership), either in Bass Coast or another area?
I’ve actively contributed to the community through involvement in early childhood, sporting, and business committees. In each role, I focused on achieving tangible results—improving services for families, advocating for better sports facilities, and supporting local businesses. These experiences have always been about driving real outcomes, not just talking about ideas.
4. What experience or attributes do you bring that will help you in the role of shire councillor?
With 25 years of leadership experience across multiple industries, I’ve learned how to cut through red tape, manage teams, and make decisions that lead to real, lasting results. My independent status allows me to focus entirely on the needs of the community, without being influenced by political parties or special interest groups. I bring transparency, accountability, and a track record of leadership that delivers.
5. Have you stood for election before in local, state, or federal government?
No, this is my first time running for office. This gives me a fresh perspective, unburdened by the baggage of past politics. I’m running to bring new ideas and common-sense solutions to the table, without the influence of past council politics. Local councils should refrain from getting involved in party politics to ensure residents are always put first, not the interests of a party’s ideologies.
6. Do you belong to a political party?
No, I’m 100% independent. I’m not aligned with any political party or special interest groups. My only loyalty is to the people of Bunurong Ward, and I will always work in the best interest of the community.
7. Are you directing preferences?
No, I believe voters should choose based on the issues that matter most to them. However, I encourage people to support new independent faces in council who are committed to change and to putting the community’s needs above all else.
8. Name up to five local issues that you consider most important and explain how you believe the council should tackle them.
Issue 1: Infrastructure
The condition of our roads and footpaths is more than an inconvenience—it’s a safety issue for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians alike. Potholes and poor maintenance put people at risk daily. I will advocate for immediate repairs in high-risk areas, focusing on solutions that last rather than temporary fixes that waste resources. A long-term infrastructure plan is needed to ensure the safety and mobility of our community as it grows, with smart investments that benefit everyone.
Issue 2: Coastal Erosion
Coastal erosion is threatening both our local beaches and the economy. The Inverloch Surf Life Saving Club, which is essential for beach safety, is also at risk. For years, reports have been made, but little action has been taken. I will push for the urgent implementation of practical solutions to protect our coastline, the Surf Life Saving Club, and our local economy. Coastal protection should not be delayed any longer; it’s crucial for the future of Bass Coast.
Issue 3: Transparency
Council decisions often happen behind closed doors, leaving the community uninformed. Residents deserve to know how their rates are spent and why decisions are made. I will support livestreaming council meetings and clearer communication on key decisions, particularly around how public funds are used. Restoring trust between the council and the community through transparency and regular updates will ensure that every voice is heard and respected.
Issue 4: Supporting our elderly community
Our elderly deserve better access to community programs and services that keep them engaged, active, and connected. I will push for more accessible support services for seniors, including better transport and healthcare options. Ensuring that seniors can live independently while staying connected to the community is essential. The council should provide the necessary infrastructure and resources to give our elderly the care and dignity they deserve.
Issue 5: Cost of Living
Rising council fees and rates are putting pressure on local families, with little benefit in return. I will work to hold the council accountable for its spending and ensure that public funds are used wisely. By cutting waste and focusing on what truly matters, we can ease the financial burden on families. Careful spending and a thoughtful approach to budgeting will help make life more affordable for everyone in Bass Coast.
9. Name the one thing you would most like to achieve if you are elected a Bass Coast Shire councillor.
My top priority is to make the council truly accountable and transparent, focusing solely on the needs of the community. Local councils should focus on local matters, not state, federal, or ideological issues. Too much time and money have been wasted on decisions that don’t benefit residents. By addressing what really matters—improving infrastructure, protecting our beaches, and supporting everyone in our community—I will ensure the council reflects the real needs of Bunurong Ward. Let’s focus on real solutions that build a safer, stronger, and more connected community for everyone.
