PictureThe third PICES pop-up exhibition attracted a great range of work
by diverse artists.
By Sandra Peeters

IT'S an exciting time of year for PICES (Phillip Island Contemporary Exhibition Space) as it seeks contemporary artists across Bass Coast and beyond for the fourth PICES summer pop-up exhibition.

PICES is calling for expressions of interest from established or emerging contemporary artists who have not yet exhibited in the pop-ups. The exhibition will be at the Ramada Resort in Cowes from January 3-31, 2023.

Phillip island artist Warren Nichols, who curated the 2022 exhibition, said it was the single most rewarding arts-related role he had undertaken. “It's been very inspiring working to PICES primary objective of introducing a high standard of contemporary art to the local and visiting public of Phillip Island and selecting exhibition works that demonstrate the diversity and integrity of Bass Coast region and beyond."

Each year sees a higher standard of entries with more and more artists submitting work. We encourage a broad spectrum of arts including paintings, drawings, collage, original limited edition prints and photographs, textiles, free standing 3D works, installations and video/film. Selection of artworks is based on creativity, innovation and originality.

The PICES vision is to continue to grow a diverse and vibrant arts culture on Phillip Island. We are so delighted at the success of these pop up exhibitions and what they bring to the community and artists alike. It's also a wonderful opportunity for young or emerging artists to exhibit.

Expressions of Interest are open until July 30. Further information is available on the PICES website.
