A LANDMARK regional exhibition will give a new generation of artists the opportunity to reach audiences across Gippsland and beyond.
Artists of Gippsland will open at Artspace Wonthaggi in November, before touring to Meeniyan Art Gallery in February 2027 and Latrobe Regional Gallery in Morwell by mid-2027.
The exhibition, presented by ArtSpace Wonthaggi, is a re-activation of New Energies, a juried exhibition of contemporary Gippsland artists which ran annually from 2000 to 2007.
Initiated by South Gippsland Shire Council, and co-sponsored by Bass Coast Shire Council, it toured regional galleries across Gippsland and Victoria each year.

“When New Energies began in 2000, it revealed something we already suspected,” says New Energies founding curator Meg Viney, “that Gippsland was home to an extraordinary depth of artistic talent.”

The new iteration, Artists of Gippsland, is a juried, select-entry exhibition open to all mediums: painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, ceramics, fibre art, mixed media and more. Note – all works must be original and no AI-generated imagery will be accepted.
The new program extends the call for entries across all six Gippsland shires – Bass Coast, Baw Baw, East Gippsland, Latrobe City, Wellington, and South Gippsland.

Up to 15 artists will be selected, with up to three works each, by an esteemed panel of judges including Susan Purdy and Tony Hanning.
Selected works will be exhibited and for sale across the full touring period of approximately 12 months while a promotional and social media campaign enables the artists to reach audiences across Gippsland and beyond.
