GRANTVILLE will host a celebration of community music-making at Community Music Victoria’s annual music camp next month.
The state’s peak body for community music is holding its sixth annual music camp at
Grantville Lodge, overlooking Western Port, from May 10-12.
This is a family friendly event designed for people of all musical skills and experience, even those who think they have none!
A range of workshops is on offer. Saray Iluminado will take participants on a journey through Balkan music and the harmonious Songrise will be sharing their harmony singing secrets.
There will be two facilitated “grand jams” where we’ll all play and sing together pus lots of plucking, strumming, singing, tooting and learning.
The music camp is a celebration of community music-making and the weekend will feature workshops and sessions open to singers and instrumentalists of all levels.
It also offers a great opportunity for anyone interested in teaching, mentoring, leading workshops and starting community music groups to come along, find support and learn more.
There are lots of options for kids of all sizes and sessions designed especially for pre-school and school-age kids, culminating in their very own grand finale procession.
A Buddies for Beginners program offers anyone wanting to try out a different instrument a taster session with a volunteer on their instrument of choice. (Instrument must be provided.)
A broad range of accommodation and catering options is available and day tickets are offered too.
