SOME of Gippsland’s favourite artists have thrown their artistic might behind a campaign to save the Western Port woodlands by contributing works for an exhibition and charity art auction.

The event is a fund-raiser for the Save Western Port Woodlands campaign to preserve the forest corridor between Lang Lang and Grantville, which is threatened by a surge in sand mining.

Artists include John Adam, David Adam, Mae Adams, Lisa (Burrell) Buckley), Jari Cooper, Lynda Horsborough, Ellen Hubble, Warren Nichols, Jill Shannon, Pat Wishart, Anna Neil, Norma Neil, Trevor Foon, Peter Walker, Bev Watson and Pat Wishart.

The exhibition has been curated by Catherine Robinson, with half the proceeds of the auction going to the campaign and the other half going to the artists.

You can view the artworks online at http://www.savewesternportwoodlands.org/art-auction.html and make your bid.

A selection of works will go into an open auction at the Rescue Station Arts precinct in Wonthaggi on Sunday, November 28. Online bids will be included in the auction, which will be conducted by Bass Coast Mayor Brett Tessari.

While the campaign has a serious purpose, this will be a weekend of celebrating nature, art and music with our Bass Coast community.  A roll call of distinguished local artists and musicians are donating their time to support the event.

Watch this space for details of the auction and concert.
