Now, how’s your garden going? Is it on the way to giving you winter veggies or some colour to catch your eye during the colder months? Are you ready to be brave and prune your fruit trees so they are at optimum condition ready to give you fruit later in the year? If you are, good oh. If you are not or only quasi knowledgeable then come and join Lewis for a hands on fruit tree pruning workshop at the Harvest Centre 10.30 to 11.30am on Wednesday 8th June. The cost is $6, however WNC members are free.

There are so many good reasons for getting together with others, be they family, friends, people with like interests, the list may go on. It is so beneficial to our health which has been tested over the last two years, it’s also fun and informative. Here is one of our groups which provide this. Our multicultural Women’s Group, they meet on Thursdays 10am to 12 noon. It is for support for those who are socially and culturally isolated and culturally and linguistically diverse. Providing, among other things an improved awareness of cultural mores and expectations and provide opportunities for the development of practical life skills.

Have you ever done progressive circle dancing? An activity which guarantees that you meet people and perhaps have a quick chat (if you’re not puffed) before you move on? Well, here’s your chance with the new Circle Dancing group which is on Wednesday afternoons from 2 to 3pm. It’s fun and will up your fitness.

If you missed out on our scrumptious Free Community Lunch last Wednesday, then set your sights on coming along to the next one on Wednesday 25th May. They happen every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, starting at 12 noon. Emma will, as usual, be cooking up a storm so come along and enjoy good food while meeting new people or re acquainting yourself with old friends or bringing another along to enjoy a meal out together whilst having a chat with others. You need to book in so that we can cater accordingly. 5672 3731

The first Tuesday in May was our inaugural Chatty Café session. If you went along, did you have a good chat? We hope so and that you spread the word. It aims to help people stay connected to their community by choosing to ‘Have a Chat’ to others in safe comfortable settings. Put the next one in your diary for Tuesday 7th June. Remember, it’s on every first Tuesday morning of the month at 10.30, finishing at 11.30.

Did you go to the Fixit Café last Sunday? Did you get three things done? Have a cuppa, eat some free cake and have your item fixed? Excellent if you did. Remember that the Fixit Café is on every 3rd Sunday of the month. Call Mitchell House on 5672 3731 for particulars.

To get to The Harvest Centre is just a short walk across Apex Park from Mitchell House which is on Murray Street or you can access it from the back of the Big W car park, past The Goods Shed.

Just a little note here. If you become a WNC member, $10 per individual, $15 per family for the year, then all Learn Share Activities are free until the end of  June 2022 and we have LOTS of Learn Share Activities. And not only that but you also get our ‘The Grapevine’ newsletter which comes out each term. Call Mitchell House on 5672 3731 for more information and keep up to date with all our activities through our Facebook Page at Wonthaggi Neighbourhood Centre at Mitchell House.
