Bass Coast Health CEO Jan Child said staff and the community have been waiting for this moment after years of planning and watching construction progress on the $115m expanded hospital.
From 7am on Friday, the new main entry will also be the public’s entry point into the hospital for Radiology, Pathology, the Acute Ward, Surgery and Maternity. The emergency department and short stay unit will open from 10am. Until then, they will operate from the current location in Armitage House, accessible via Baillieu Street West.
Parking for the new emergency department is in Graham Street. Don't worry about getting lost. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to help people find their way, and there are ample signs.
The current main entrance will be closed to the public from 7am on Friday 9 December and renovated in January to provide for another corridor linking the expanded and current hospitals.
The Acute Ward will move into the expanded hospital early January and Theatre will relocate late January/early February.
