A Grand Band Finale capped off a great afternoon of local music at The Goods Shed.

By Ellen Hubble

A WARM attendance of talented musicians and attentive audience came in from the cold to The Goods Shed Open Mic on Sunday 12 June. Not quite on the winter solstice but close to it. Most of the musicians came from Bass Coast and South Gippsland shires but some came from as far away as Pakenham with audience members from the Dandenong Ranges.
It was wonderful to see and hear this local event bringing and singing the community together with a variety of talents and diverse genres of music so willingly shared. Open mics offer the opportunities for emerging musicians to create, develop and perform to an audience, while experienced musicians so generously share their encouragement and musicianship as performers, and accompanists.

From solos to small bands, the good will and good cheer extended to a Grand Band Finale where most of the afternoon participants performed together.
Thank you to all who attended and a very special thank you to Bass Coast Artists’ Society who enable us to use this historic venue.

Entry is free but a gold coin is appreciated. You are invited to bring your own refreshments, nibbles etc.  Tables and chairs are provided.

The next gig is at The Goods Shed (behind Dan Murphy’s and beside the Big W carpark) from 2-4pm on Sunday July 10. For further information, or if you wish to perform, participate or simply attend please contact Ellen or David Hubble at david@ logomotion.com.au

And what a lovely afternoon it was! Thanks to David and Ellen for all the organising as well as being some of the talent behind the mic. We got to hear quite a diverse group of performers - a great way to spend the afternoon! Thank you. Deb
