Have you ever wanted to sing? Here’s your chance with the Sisters and Misters singing group setting up a local branch.
By Anne Paul

When the Sisters and Misters singing group visited Phillip Island last year and performed at venues in Cowes and San Remo, they were warmly welcomed by locals and visitors.

Their popular rock soul renditions brought joy to many, with a special and at times moving performance at the Vietnam Veterans Museum.

The Melbourne based group is led by Phillip Island regular Irene Bennetts. A talented performer in her own right, her specialty is gathering large numbers to produce exciting mass vocal items.

Following their visit last year, many locals asked Irene about starting a Phillip Island group. After careful planning the Phillip Island Sisters and Misters singing group is about to be launched under Irene’s leadership.

No prior singing experience is required as participants are taught the songs, choreography and group process.

There will also be opportunities for linkages with the two Melbourne based groups, as well as local performances.

Irene will run an introductory session for singers at the Phillip Island Club, 6 Lions Court, Cowes at 2pm on Sunday, April 7.

In more good news, the Melbourne Sisters and Mister group is returning to Phillip Island for the weekend of May 5 and 6 for a series of free performances.

They kick off at the Vietnam Veterans Museum at 2pm on Saturday, then at the Cowes Foreshore Market at 5pm.On Sunday May 6 they will perform at the Phillip Island Club, 6 Lions Court, Cowes at 2pm.

Call Irene on 0412 822 126 or email sistersandmistersofsong@gmail.com for details.
