After the Fires
A guide to local arts you can enjoy from the comfort of your own home.

By Liane Arno

While ArtSpace Wonthaggi’s photographic exhibition has had to be postponed, you can still view the entries on our website. Visit After the Fires to see work from artists including the fabulous Trevor Foon and young Forbes Grover, aged 13 years.

If you would like to enter and be part of the virtual exhibition, send your photograph now.  There’s no need to pay any entry fees until we hold our physical exhibition.  Remember, it’s all in a good cause – the Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund.

Also - why not follow our facebook page for the upcoming Archies Bald Portrait Prize as well as the facebook page for our gallery - ArtSpace Wonthaggi? And if you didn't get a chance to see John Mutsaer's Infinite Birdcage at the gallery - have a virtual tour by visiting his website - www.johnmutsaers.com

I’m delighted to report that artist Sofie Dieu, who exhibited with us and delivered her ink painting workshop at Wonthaggi ArtSpace less than a year ago, is finding a solution to this current period of self isolation.

Sofie has created an online learning platform Learn Paint Grow, which offers free art and well-being activities. Each week, Sofie adds a new exercise to keep it fresh and engaging. She also answers all your questions and does one-on-one support through an LPG forum.

The art of fusion
May 2, 2019

French artist Sofie Dieu uses Chinese inks, Japanese techniques and Australia’s natural world in her pursuit of "the numinous".

She is also offering short classes at $15.  Depending on how much you want to throw yourselves in it, a class can last anywhere from an hour to a whole afternoon! It is mainly ink painting oriented though there is also a mixed media/colour class. Depending on how popular this is, there might be some more coming up so stay tuned!

For people who wants to dig in for the full ink series it is available for six months for $66. Here again, as for the short classes and the wellbeing activities, Sofie Dieu does one-on-one support through LPG forum.

Have a look at what to expect at https://youtu.be/5_dU17e95fE

Also - remember that she had planned to hold a class in July of this year.  With luck it will still proceed!   Please contact Sofie on 0413 469 882 or drop a line to [email protected]

Contact Liane Arno at [email protected] if you would like your art event included in the Post.
