Organisers of Phillip Island’s Winter Arts Trail want to hear from local artists.

Phillip Island’s first Winter Arts Trail on the Queen’s Birthday weekend last June gave local artists the opportunity to display their works at various venues throughout San Remo and Phillip Island.
The event was so successful that the Phillip Island Tourism & Business Association (PITBA) intends to make it an annual event and a significant drawcard for visitors to the island. We would like to include as many local artists as possible in future events and are seeking expressions of interest.
Visitors to last year’s event were given a map that became the entry to a draw for a prize, which was a piece of art donated by a local artist. To qualify for the draw, they had to visit a minimum number of venues and name the venue and artist on the form. This was then handed in at local information centres and drawn at the end of the week.
It was a great way for local artists to display and possibly sell their work, as all items displayed were also marked with prices and a bio of the artist.
The Art Trail Committee, comprising members of PITBA and the Artists Society of Phillip Island are already planning next year’s event which will take place from Queens Birthday weekend through to the following weekend. To assist with forward planning, the committee is calling for preliminary expressions of interest from artists who would like to have their work displayed in local business venues.
Please bear in mind that the arts trail is only on San Remo and Phillip Island, so this is where any art would be displayed.
The committee would also like to hear from an artist who would be generous enough to donate an original artwork as a prize to be awarded to a member of the public who follows the art trail. This year’s prize was donated by the local sculptor DAK.
