YOUNG writers of Wonthaggi and Bass Coast are invited to enter the Wonthaggi Library Young Writers Competition for the chance to win one of three $150 prizes.

The competition, which is part of West Gippsland’s MeetUp20 Youth Week festivities, is open to anyone aged between 12 and 25.

Two local young writers are looking forward to the challenge. “I finished year 12 last year and I’m looking forward to writing just for the fun of it,” said Louise, 18.

Emma, 17, encouraged other young people to have a go. “Get your creative gears going.”

Entries can be up to 1000 words long. Email them to youngwritersWGL@gmail.com by 5pm on March 31 or drop them in to your local library by 5pm on March 27.

The prize-winning entries will be read out at an awards evening at Wonthaggi Library from 6pm to 7.30pm on Friday, April 3. Drinks and nibbles will be provided. All welcome to join the celebrations.
