BASS Coast’s young conservationists have an opportunity to meet like-minded people in a beach clean-up and overnight camp on Phillip Island in early December.

The event is run by Gippsland Intrepid Landcare, a volunteer organisation that aims to connect young people aged 18-35 to the Gippsland environment and Landcare through adventure and meaningful activities.

The group is partnering with Sea Shepherd, and Plastic Free Phillip Island and San Remo and Sea Shepherd to run the event. It will start with a beach clean-up open to all ages on Saturday, December 1, followed by an afternoon and evening of activities for the campers.

An indigenous guide will tell the group about the history of Cape Woolamai, they’ll listen to presentations from Sea Shepherd and Plastic Free Phillip Island and in the evening share a communal dinner and watch a screening of the movie Albatross. Overnight accommodation is at Phillip Island Glamping.

Gippsland Intrepid Landcare member Jarryd Minahan says Intrepid Landcare is a great way for young people in the area to connect with other like-minded people and build networks to work together to improve the environment.

“I think it’s a great opportunity to meet awesome people, be outdoors on the beautiful Phillip Island beaches, while doing real, meaningful work to help our incredible region.”

Spots are limited to 30 and tickets are $30. Buy them from the Gippsland Intrepid Facebook page or email [email protected].
