The Voice is not a political question, it's a moral one. To see why, take the Questionnaire.
1. Do you accept that the Aboriginal People had possession of this Continent prior to 1788?

YES - Proceed to next question.
NO  - What planet are you from?

2. Do you accept that we took this Continent from them without their consent?
YES -
Proceed to next question.
NO -  Go and read a good Australian history book.

3. Do you accept that if you take something from someone without their consent then you have a moral obligation either to return it or to give them something else acceptable in return?
YES - Proceed to next question.
NO -  Get a conscience.

4. Do you accept that, since returning their continent to them is not realistic, we therefore have a moral obligation to give Aboriginal People something acceptable to them in return?
YES - Proceed to next question.
NO -  Do a course on basic logic.

5. Do you accept that giving Aboriginal People something acceptable to them in return implies that we need to ask them what is acceptable?
YES - Proceed to next question.
NO -  Go back and carefully re-read the Question - it's a no-brainer!

6. Do you accept that the Aboriginal People, after a consultation process, responded that a Voice to Parliament would be acceptable?
YES - Proceed to next question.
NO -  You haven't been paying attention!

7. Since the Voice doesn't infringe on any other Australian's rights, do you agree we therefore have a strong moral obligation to accept the Aboriginal People's response to our request and support an Indigenous Voice to Parliament?
YES - Vote YES in the Referendum.
NO -  Go back to the start and re-read the evidence in a more open frame of mind.

The condescension in this almost persuades me to vote NO.

According to the Macquarie, to condescend means "to behave as if one is conscious of descending from a superior position", in this case a superior moral position. Since the NO Case shies away from talking morals at all, this might be seen as an unavoidable attitude to adopt.

Ian,

Man-splaining at it's worst, particularly using a dictionary to justify your condescension. Does Macquarie define 'double down'? I'm with Amy.

I'm sorry if I sound grumpy. This is the most crucial moral decision of the decade, and all people can focus on is the tone. Please focus on the substance of the argument, The decision you make will affect many lives and define our Nation into the future. The consequences of a NO vote are disastrous. This is a question that goes to the very soul of our country. I'm terrified we might blow it.

Ian.

I did not say that you sound 'grumpy.'
